“First Date” is the smash musical comedy fresh off Broadway.
This delightfully relatable show gives us the glimpse into the initial encounter between “blind date virgin” Aaron (Mitchell King) and serial dater Casey (Ellen McCarthy). When the two New Yorkers are set up by Casey’s sister, sparks fly – or do they? The night unfolds into hilarious chaos with unexpected appearances of helpful best friends, Machiavellian exes, and over protective parents, all literal manifestations of Aaron’s and Casey’s inner “critics.”
This wonderfully colorful cast of characters will keep you entertained through Google background checks, awkward pauses, and conversational battlefields. And throughout it all, you will be rooting for Aaron and Casey to come out on top of this potential dating disaster. Or not.
Directed by Sonia Neu, with a book written by Austin Winsberg and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, you are sure to reminisce about your own first date(s) while enjoying this whimsical and creative musical.
Performance dates are March 17th-19th and 24th-26th.
$12.50 for adults – $10 for students and seniors
**Disclaimer: This show falls somewhere between PG-13 and R on the rating scale; it’s not Fully Monty but it’s not Music Man either. Plan accordingly.
