Are you a beginner? Would you like to work with herbs effectively and safely? Join me for a short series that offers an introduction to herbalism. This is an amazing opportunity to work together and gain a foundational understanding of working with medicinal herbs. After completion, participants will have:
~ gained an understanding of the terminology used amongst herbalist, the importance of weights and measures, and the various ways we source herbs safely. Additionally, we will spend
~ hands-on time exploring the making of decoctions, infusions, tinctures, salves, ointments and balms, compresses and poultices (to name a few places we’ll start) and
~ how to administer herbs and determine dosages, for both children and adults (OK, maybe pets too). Finally, we’ll take a look at
~ how to store medicinal herbs, and learn about differences and similarities between kitchen herbs and strictly medicinals, and come away with a wealth of recipes for both.
Over the course of this introductory series, folks will gain both information and skills that will: enable them to work safely and effectively with more than a dozen herbs, create medicinal preparations that can be used to support everyday health and wellness and come to grips with a variety of techniques that help ensure the continued creation of high quality remedies. To get the most out of the class, those that wish can also complete homework assignments which are designed to support our focus as we move forward. Yes, of course, feedback is available throughout the course.
